I brought my 2017 BMW 540i to Honest-1 Auto Care in Ormond Beach on multiple occasions, and unfortunately my experience left me feeling disappointed and, ultimately, taken advantage of. To start, the facility is clean and the staff is courteous and professional. However, I consistently found the pricing to be extremely high for a non-dealer repair shop. Over a relatively short period of time, I spent thousands of dollars, including approximately $1,600 for front brakes, along with additional charges for A/C diagnostics, battery replacement, brake fluid service, and other recommended maintenance. At that price point, I would expect dealership-level expertise, diagnostics, and transparency — which I did not feel I received. One of my biggest concerns was the estimate process. I was provided with a written estimate that included several items listed under “Deferred Service,” which appeared to be itemized pricing. Later, I was told those figures were only “starting prices” and not actual estimates. This made it difficult to make informed decisions and created confusion around the true cost of recommended work. If numbers presented in an estimate are not actual estimates, that should be clearly communicated upfront. Additionally, I previously brought my vehicle in because my A/C began blowing warm air. I was told dye was added to the system and that I should return so they could identify any leak. I returned within the timeframe — specifically before my warranty expired — to proactively address the issue. However, I was then told there was no leak, despite the system previously being very low on refrigerant. Since A/C systems are sealed, refrigerant does not simply disappear, which left me concerned that the issue was not fully diagnosed, particularly given the premium pricing for the service. I also found several recommended maintenance items, such as cabin air filters and other services, priced significantly higher than expected. When combined with the brake pricing and diagnostic charges, the overall experience felt more like dealership pricing without the corresponding level of service, specialization, or transparency. To add to the frustration, after spending a significant amount at the shop, I received a rewards summary showing I had accumulated just over $130 in rewards after thousands of dollars in service. While rewards programs are appreciated, this further highlighted how much I had spent relative to the value I felt I received. To be fair, the staff was polite and the work that was completed appears to have been done properly. However, between the high pricing, unclear estimates, and unresolved diagnostic concerns, I did not feel I received the level of value I expected. Because of this, I will be seeking service elsewhere moving forward. I’m sharing this feedback so other customers — particularly those with European vehicles — can make an informed decision before choosing this shop.
