Honest1 (Nova and Hand Avenue) inspection indicated NO PROBLEMS on my 55,000 miles Honda Fit, except it needed an oil change and a sway bar replacement. The car was running fine. I paid $1,471.10 for sway bar, oil change and flushing. (Way too much!!) Within days my car wasn’t starting properly. Honest1 gave me an estimate of $1,276.87 for a starter. I knew this was twice the price you could get it done elsewhere but when I told them I would pick up my car, they said I couldn’t do that, since the car was all apart. I remembered I had signed, initialed and dated TOTALLY BLANK forms that morning and realized I probably agreed to pay their estimate. I very reluctantly let them install the starter and drove it home. At the same time of the starter installation, I received a text from Honest1 telling me their inspection process determined that my 25 month old battery was low and that I might not make it out of the parking lot. I declined their offer to install a new one. (And wondered why the battery passed the original inspection just weeks before.) The very next day I was again having the same starting problems. AFTER SPENDING $2,749.97 on a car that was running fine before I brought it to Honest1, I certainly was NOT going to add more damage to my bank account. A local reputable car repair man told me the starter was bad, put in a new one for $509.40, gave me the Honest1 starter part and told me to at least get the money back for the overpriced $825.68 part. Honest1 told me I broke their rules of not letting them work on the car, so no refund would be made to me. They gave me the phone number to “corporate”. It was NOT corporate – it was a warranty claim center. The center said if I had driven more than 25 miles from Honest1 for a second starter, it would have been a legitimate warranty reimbursement, but I was not entitled to any refund. I cannot find a phone number for corporate in St. Petersburg, FL. I’ve had a $2,700 hard life lesson and hope all my friends, family and acquaintances won’t go through this same devastation. Let me be a lesson. If your gut tells you run before you get screwed – then RUN!!
